Basic Course in PET-CT imaging

This course first offered in 2003 has seen 150+ participants over the years. The course lasts 2 1/2 days, starts on Thursday and finishes Saturday noon. It is aimed at doctors who have little hands-on experience in reading PET-CT examinations and provides the technical and clinical basics to successfully start a career in reading PET-CT examinations.

The course consists of lectures and hands-on exercises and focuses on the application of FDG. The lectures address basic issues in PET- and PET-CT technology and cover strategies and protocols for PET-CT data acquisition. In the clinical parts the course addresses the use of PET-CT in the prime oncologic disease entities on a disease by disease base. Additional single lectures are devoted to FDG-inflammation imagin, cerebral and cardiac disease. Several hours are devoted to case solving in groups of 3-4. There is also room for formal discussions with staff members of the Zurich PET Center and less formally at a course dinner included in the participation fee. We accept up to 16 participants per course.
CME credits: 15 credit hours
Admission requirements: MD training and basic knowledge of functioning of imaging equipmentas or training as medical imaging technician. Good listening comprehension of English
